Ankle injuries ended the high school football career of singer Bart Millard, but also placed him in a choir course that ultimately led to his current career path. His praise and worship band, MercyMe, was founded in 1994. It took years and much performing for the group to gain notoriety, but what has been slow to start has also been slow to cease, and MercyMe has been a consistent, top act on the Christian Music Scene for a strong several years now.
